In 2006, Anna Rains made her 48th move, having lived in diverse places across England, Scotland, Wales, Hong Kong, and California. Throughout her life, she’s experienced nearly every type of home imaginable—from a bus post-WWII to a 120-foot schooner in Hong Kong, a houseboat along the Birdham Canal near Chichester, and even a haunted farmhouse in Cheshire. Her eclectic journey has also included time in skyscrapers, caravans, high-rises, townhouses, and thatched cottages.

For the past 25 years, Anna has called Cheshire, near Macclesfield, home. Here, she has been actively involved in community fundraising, performed Punch and Judy shows, and given talks to local Women’s Institutes on ghosts and fortune-telling. Shortly after turning 65, she returned to work as a part-time training officer for a major real estate firm, continuing a lifelong passion for learning and mentoring.

Anna’s career has been as varied as her living experiences. She has worked in hotel management, luxury watch sales in Hong Kong, banking, motivational sales, real estate, and even boat and casket sales in California. Along the way, she also ran a café, worked as a telephonist and typist, and later launched her own business as a sales trainer.

With a family lineage tracing directly back to William the Conqueror, Anna has inherited many eccentric and remarkable stories from her ancestors. Inspired by the passing of the older generations in her family, she began documenting these cherished memories to ensure that her grandchildren and future descendants would not lose their connection to the extraordinary tales of their forebears.
